Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up & transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
The professional driver guide representing African Apes Tours & Travel will pick you up from your hotel or the airport and transfer you to Kibale Forest National Park. The journey entails several stopovers for photography and scenic viewing especially the beautiful tea farms. You will have lunch in Fortportal city, have a brief tour in this beautiful Uganda tourism city and thereafter proceed to Kibale Forest, the primate capital of Africa.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi wetland walk
Today you will wake up early, enjoy your heavy breakfast and transfer to Kanyanchu visitor information Centre for registrations and pre trekking experience. You will be put together in a group and allocated a chimpanzee community to visit. Enjoy a hike up hill through the jungle forest in search of the endangered chimpanzees. The trekking time can be as short as 30 minutes or long to up 6 hours before you meet the chimpanzees. You will be allowed to spend an hour with a chimpanzee community, experience their characters similar to human beings, take pictures and have fun with your lost relatives. Besides chimpanzees, you will meet several other primates in Kibale Forest such as the Black and White colubus, Red tailed monkeys, Vervet Monkeys, and baboons among others. In the afternoon, go for a nature walk to Bigodi wetland sanctuary home to numerous birds and primates. A nature walk is the best way to enjoy the calmness of this natural environment.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Afternoon boat cruise
After morning breakfast, check out and depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive time between these two parks is roughly 3 hours via Kyambura. Have lunch at your lodge in Queen Elizabeth, refresh and get ready for the afternoon boat cruise at Kazinga channel. The cruise offers you great views of wild animals, fishing villages and birds at the banks of the river. Kazinga channel connects Lake Edward and George.
Day 4: Game viewing & transfer to Bwindi Forest
In the early morning, go for game drives in the Kasenyi plains of the Park to catch-up with early risers and nocturnal animals returning from night hunts. Expect to see lots of wild animals including Elephants, Buffalos, Lions, Waterbucks, Warthogs, Uganda kobs, Hippos and Topis among others. You will return to the lodge for breakfast, check out and drive out of the Park via Ishasha sector home to the famous tree-climbing lions. With enroute lunch, transfer to Bwindi Forest Impenetrable Forest National park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas.
Day 5: Mountain gorilla trekking & Batwa visit
Wakeup very early, have your heavy breakfast and drive to Bwindi Park headquarters to start your gorilla trek experience. The day starts with registration with park management and a brief guide on the rules and regulations of mountain gorilla trekking. At 800am, start up a hike to search for the gorillas. The 2-8 hours trek is undeniably strenuous but the experience of meeting gorillas is worth it. Spend an hour with a gorilla family; see how a silverback guards his family members while other family members play different roles. Mountain gorilla trekking is ranked as the best wildlife experience in the world. In the evening, for a community tour to Batwa communities for a cultural experience. Learn and experience the traditions, norms and beliefs of these indigenous people whop lived with gorillas for all years before conservation was introduced.
Day 6: Departure
Enjoy your sunrise bre3akfast at the lodge, check out and depart Bwindi for Kampala to catch-up with your connecting flight at Entebbe International Airport.
