Day 1: Pick up & transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On this first day of our 2 Days gorilla trip, your driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kigali or Kigali International airport. He/she will briefly guide you through the itinerary, what to expect and when, you will thereafter drive through Kigali city northwestwards to Volcanoes National park. The roughly 3 hours drive from Kigali to Volcanoes park offers you scenic views of the beautiful landscapes, rolling hills, farms, and households. Overnight stay in the Park
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking & Departure
You will rise up very early, refresh, have a heavy breakfast, get your packed lunch and transfer to Kinigi Park quarters for registration and pre-gorilla trekking briefing. You will be served a hot cup of coffee while enjoying the traditional dances performed for you at the park headquarters. You will be grouped into 8 and given one gorilla family to visit. At 8:00 am, start up the hike up and downhill in search of the allocated gorilla family. The trekking time range between 2 hours to over 6 hours but you are 99% sure of meeting the gorillas. The hike through the bamboo forests of Volcanoes National Park also offers you the chance to see numerous birds and other primates, which dwell there. On meeting the gorillas, you will be allowed an hour with them! Embrace and enjoy the human-like characters of these endangered species, take as many pictures as possible and capture live moments of these apes. Volcanoes National park is home to over 35% of the total gorilla population in the world. The park has 10 habituated gorilla families which guarantees the availability of 80 gorilla permits each day. Rwanda is home to the highest number of mountain gorillas in the Virunga conservation area.
