Your driver guide from African Apes Tours & Travel will pick you from Kigali airport or your hotel in Kigali. You will have a brief tour through to explore this beautiful and clean small city. A Kigali city tour takes you to visit some top destinations in the city Centre including the Kigali genocide memorial center, Kimironko market, Kigali Convention Centre, presidential palace and Inema market. Have lunch in Kigali city and drive eastwards to Akagera National park located on Rwanda’s border with Tanzania.
Day 2: Game Viewing & Boat cruise
In the early morning, transfer to the savanna plains for game viewing experience. Akagera National park is home to the big five game (Elephants, Rhinos, Leopards, Lions and Buffalos). You will also see other animals such as Giraffes, Hippos, and waterbucks, Elands, Bushbucks, Topis, Elands, Thompson Gazelles and Hartebeests among others. Akagera National park is the only savannah Park hence the only place for game viewing in the land of a thousand hills. In the afternoon, embark on a boat cruise to Lake Ihema for the water sport experience. The boat cruise offers you excellent scenic views of the park, wildlife and the neighboring local communities. Lake home is also best for spot fishing and travelers can optionally take part in. The swamp areas of Akagera National Park shelter birds such as Fan tailed widowbird, Cattle egret, Hadada Ibis, Long crested eagle, Grey backed Fiscals and Caruther’s Cisticola among others.
