Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kigali city tour & transfer to Volcanoes National Park
You will be picked from your hotel in Kigali or the airport and go for a brief city tour through Kigali. You will visit different travel sites in Kigali such as Kigali genocide memorial Centre, Kigali convention centre, Kimironko market and Inema art gallery among others. Have lunch in the city Centre and thereafter drive north westwards to Volcanoes National Park.
Day 2:Mountain Gorilla Trekking
The day starts with an early morning breakfast at your lodge. You will be given packed lunch and transfer to Kinigi Park headquarters for pre gorilla trekking briefing and registration. You will put together in a group of 8 travelers and allocated a gorilla family to visit. The gorilla hike experience starts at 8:00am, lasting for between 2-6 hours. In your search for the gorillas, you may meet other primates and birds in the park. On reaching the gorillas, spend an hour in their company to learn their social behaviors, take pictures, capture videos and have fun with your close relatives. Mountain gorilla trekking is the best wildlife experience which attract the highest number of travelers to Rwanda
Day 3: Dian Fossey Graveyard hike & Cultural tour
Today you will have an early breakfast and a transfer to Kinigi park headquarters for briefing and registration. Start up a hike to the graveyard of Dian Fossey, an American primatologist who lost her life to save the endangered gorillas. The hike to the graveyard is a commemoration of her conservation acts, which led to her death. In the afternoon, you will visit the iby’iwacu cultural village to learn and experience Rwanda’s traditions, norms and customs. Traditional dances and songs are performed for entertainment and travelers are allowed to take part, which make them as part of the community.
Day 4: Departure
This is your last day in Volcanoes National Park. You may have an optional forest/nature walk; have a relaxed breakfast at your lodge. You will then check out and transfer to Kigali for your return flight
