Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park – Afternoon boat cruise
Depart from Kampala to Entebbe and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park with a brief stop at Uganda Equator. The 5-6 hours drive offers you scenic views of Ankole cattle firms and local farms. Arrive in the park, have lunch and refresh. In the afternoon, join a boat cruise at Kazinga channel for a best water experience. The cruise offers you great views of numerous birds such as Hammerkops, Yellow billed storks, African Fish Eagle, African Kingfisher, Ibises plus many water animals including crocodiles seen resting on the river banks. Kazinga channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George. The cruise lasts for 2 hours but it’s worth it!
Day 2: Game viewing & transfer to Bwindi Forest National park
Wakeup very early and drive to the open savannah of Queen Elizabeth National Park for game viewing. The park is home a variety of wild animals, which include Elephants, Buffalos, Lions, Hippos, Uganda Kobs, waterbucks, Bushbucks and Impalas among others. Enjoy seeing grazers feeding while predators hunt down their preys. Return to the lodge for late breakfast and early lunch. Check out and embark on a drive southwestwards via Ishasha sector, home to the famous tree-climbing lions. Drive via Buhoma and Kihihi villages to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park home to the endangered mountain gorillas.
Day 3: Mountain gorilla trekking
Our great day for trekking gorillas is finally here! Rise up early for a heavy breakfast, get packed lunch and transfer to the respective park headquarters. You will be registered by park wardens and taken through a briefing on the dos and don’ts of mountain gorilla trekking. You will also be put together in groups of eight travelers and given a gorilla family to trek. The hike to meet the gorillas commences at 8:00am. Along with your armed rangers and porters. Start up a hike uphill to meet the gentle giants. The trek is undeniably strenuous but the feeling of looking into the eyes of the endangered gorillas is worth it! You will be allowed to spend an hour in the company of the gorilla family, see how they relate together, take pictures and enjoy this once in a lifetime experience. In your trek to see gorillas, you may also see other primates and birds, which call Bwindi Forest home. In the evening, you may also visit the batwa pygmy communities adjacent to the park to learn and experience their traditional forest life.
Day 4: Return to Kampala
Have a relaxed morning breakfast at the lodge, enjoy the sunrise in the middle of the jungle forest and enjoy your last moments in Bwindi Forest. Thereafter, depart Bwindi back to Kampala for your catch-up flight.
