Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: pick up & transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park
Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, meet and greet your 5 Days driver guide from African Apes Tours. Have a brief introduction about the itinerary, what to do, and when. Thereafter, drive out of Kampala headed to Queen Elizabeth Uganda’s second-largest National Park with the highest concentration of wild animals. You will have a brief stop at the equator for photographs and with en-route lunch proceed to the Park.
Day 2: Game Viewing and boat cruise
In the early morning, go for guided game drives in the open savannahs of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Follow different tracks in the park for great views of numerous wild animals which live in this beautiful Park. Expect to see lots of predators hunting while other animals graze and browse freely. Among the animals to see in Queen Elizabeth National park include Buffalos, Elephants, Hippos, Lions, Waterbucks, Warthogs, Uganda kobs, Impalas and many more. Return to the lodge for late breakfast and relax as you wait for hot lunch. In the afternoon, go for a boat cruise at Kazinga channel connecting lake Edward and Lake George. The banks of the river shelter a variety of birds such as the Ibises, African Kingfisher, African Fish eagle, Hammerkops, Yellow-billed stork, white egrets and saddle-billed stork among others. Enjoy the fresh air and cold breeze on Kazinga channel with great views of the neighboring fishing villages, water and wild animals in the Park
Day 3: Ishasha sector &transfer to Bwindi Forest National park
Enjoy your sunrise breakfast at the lodge and enjoy your last moments in the beautiful Queen Elizabeth National Park. Check out and drive to Ishasha sector home to the famous tree-climbing lions. Drive through Kihihi and Kanungu villages to Bwindi Forest home to the highest number of mountain gorillas in the world.
Day 4: Mountain gorilla Trekking
The great day for trekking the endangered mountain gorillas is finally here! Wake up very early, have breakfast, and transfer to the Park headquarters for registration and briefing on the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking. The trek may be short or long depending on where gorillas will be located that day. There is no actual trekking time but it ranges between 30 minutes to over 7 hours. However, you are 90% sure of meeting the endangered apes. The allowed time with the amazing mountain gorillas is strictly an hour but it’s worth it. In the evening if time allows, you will visit Batwa communities to learn and experience their traditional forest life.
Day 5: Departure
This is the last day of our 5 Days Uganda gorillas and wildlife experience. You will have an early morning breakfast at your lodge in Bwindi Forest, check out, and set off for Kampala/Entebbe. The scenic drive traversing Kigezi rolling hills and Ankole plains is amazing. With minimal stopovers, an enroute lunch, drive straight to Entebbe airport for your catchup flight
