Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National park
Your driver guide will pick you from the airport or your hotel in Kampala/Entebbe and transfer you to Kibale Forest National park. Enjoy this scenic drive via tea plantations, trading centers and local homesteads headed for lunch in Fort Portal city. Briefly tour this this city, which is Uganda’s most beautiful and clean tourism city. In the evening proceed to Kibale Forest National park for an overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Nature walk
Today you will meet the endangered chimpanzees, which share over 90% of human genes. Wakeup early, have breakfast and with packed lunch transfer to Kanyanchu visitor information Centre for registration and briefing on the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking. The trek to see chimpanzees lasts for between 30 minutes to over 7 hours but it’s worth it. Enjoy an hour in the company of these endangered primates, take as many pictures as possible and enjoy this lifetime experience. In the afternoon, join a nature walk to Bigodi wetlands, which shelters numerous birds and primates. A combination of chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi wetland walk make a complete package in Kibale Forest National park
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Have breakfast, check out and leave Kibale Forest for Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is Uganda’s second largest Park. The drive time from Kibale to Queen Elizabeth is roughly 3 hours. You will have lunch at your lodge in Queen Elizabeth and spend the rest of the time chilling. You can alternatively do game drives or nature walks in the Park
Day 4: Game Viewing & Boat cruise
Wake up early and go for game drives to catch up with early risers. Drive following different demarcated tracks in the park, which take you to where animals are in plenty. Queen Elizabeth National Park is known to have a high concentration of wild animals, which include Elephants, Lions, Buffalos, Hippos, Uganda Kobs, Waterbucks, Warthogs and Impalas among others. In the afternoon, go for a boat cruise at Kazinga channel for the best water experience. For birders, Kazinga channel is home to numerous birds, which include Hammerkops, White Egrets, Yellow billed stork, Ibises, African Kingfisher and African Fish eagle among others. You will also water animals such as crocodiles, monitoring lizards and hippos on the riverbanks. The cruise also gives you great views of the neighboring fishing villages and wildlife in the Park.
Day 5: Ishasha –Transfer to Bwindi Forest
After breakfast, drive to Ishasha sector to see the endangered tree-climbing lions. The drives through this sector is a great chance to see the rare tree-climbing lions, which spend most of their time up in the trees. From there, drive out of the Park and with lunch enroute proceeds to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.
Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking & Batwa community visit
This is great day for meeting the endangered mountain gorillas. Have early heavy breakfast, get your packed snacks and drive to the Park headquarters. After registration, assemble together for a briefing guide on gorilla trekking. the hike to see gorillas starts at 8:00am lasting for between 2-8 hours depending on where gorillas will be located that day. Also, the time to spend in the jungle depends on the speed of the slowest person in your group. After meeting the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend an hour in their company. Take pictures, capture love videos and have a great time with your lost cousins. Later in the evening, visit Batwa communities for interactions and cultural experience.
Day 7: Transfer to Lake Mburo – Evening game drive
Have an early morning breakfast and check out departing for Lake Mburo National park. Enjoy a 5 hours drive via kigezi hills and Ankole cattle farms and banana plantations. Have lunch at your lodge in Lake Mburo and relax while staring at the beauty of this savannah park. In the evening go for a game drive to see animals, which live, in this small Park. Expect to see animals such as Zebras, Giraffes, Hippos, Lions, Elands, Impalas and Bushbucks among others.
Day 8: Transfer to Kampala
Enjoy your sunrise breakfast at the lodge, and have your last game drive out of the Park. Drive staright to Kampala and connect to Entebbe for your return flight.
